Introduction of Taiwan Traditional pith paper

Pith paper comes from the stem of the Tetrapanax papyrifer plant, native to Taiwan and southern China. The plant’s soft, white pith is sliced, pressed, and dried to create a delicate paper with a smooth, fibrous texture. Traditionally used for crafting lifelike flowers and decorative objects, pith paper was once a thriving industry during the Qing dynasty and Japanese colonial era. Today, only a few artisans still preserve this rare and intricate craft.
